This course focuses on the fundamental principles of the classical practice of cast drawing using the sight/size method. Sight/size has been and still is used in ateliers for centuries to train the artist’s eye.
Working from plaster casts, students will learn how to accurately observe and translate proportion, value, and form through careful comparison between the subject and their drawings.
Students will be guided through structured exercises that emphasize measurement, edge control, and tonal development. Students with prior drawing experience will have the opportunity to refine their observational skills and deepen their understanding of light and form.
A supply list will be provided prior to the first class.
