Meet Michael E. Voss
I'm a painter, printmaker and draftsman based in Waukegan, IL. My works have been widely exhibited nationally and collected internationally. I also founded ShadowBoxX Gallery, a new art space in Waukegan.
Meet Jesus Ortega
Jesus Ortega primarily works with oil paint and chalk pastel. Whether capturing the heightened colors in a portrait or replicating the realistic colors in a landscape, he focuses on using his medium of choice to its fullest extent. In recent years he has found an affinity for plein air painting and now spends the summer months painting the local scenery outdoors.
Meet Carla Castro Gomez
Carla Castro Gomez is a Mexican American printmaker who specializes in Intaglio. She has five years of experience in this medium. She exhibits internationally and locally - she has shown her work in England, Mexico, and Chicago. She is a mentor, teaching others printmaking techniques. She enjoys learning new techniques herself, and uses whatever is at her disposal to create.
Our StoryThe Waukegan Printmakers Association (WPA) is a community-focused artist collective inside ShadowBoxx Gallery. Operating as a creative space for both working artists and hands-on learning, the WPA offers classes, workshops, and supervised work sessions in traditional analog and eco-friendly printmaking.
